Vermont Longer Trails, More Skiing Stowe Mountain Resort is located on Mt. Mansfield, Vermont's highest peak at 4,395 feet above sea level. The resort offers a variety of terrain spread out over two distinct mountains. Spruce Peak offers intermediate and novice terrain, while Mt. Mansfield offers terrain for all ability levels. In total, Stowe has 48 trails with 25 percent for advanced skiers, 59 percent for intermediates and 16 percent for novices. Each trail averages nearly a mile in length, which is double the average trail length of any other resort in the East. Getting to the top of Stowe is fast and comfortable.

The East's first detachable quad chair and the world's fastest gondola both offer top-to-bottom skiing. With high-speed lifts and exceptionally long trails, skiers are guaranteed more skiing time and less time standing in lift lines. Snowboard and Cross-Country Skiing With the support of nearby Burton Snowboard Company and a number of successful teaching programs, Stowe has worked hard to create a well-integrated and courteous ski/snowboard community. There is a terrain park and two half-pipes that have been created for snowboard riders.

Stowe is a Nordic skier's paradise with its vast expanse of interconnected trails. There are four centers to choose from: Stowe Mountain Resort Cross-Country Center, Trapp Family Lodge, Edson Hill Manor and Topnotch -- all tied together with one common ticket. From Stowe, skiers can easily access more than 200 miles of groomed and forested skiing. . Stowe averages more than 260 inches of natural snowfall a year. To ensure great skiing when nature does not cooperate, a state of the art snowmaking system provides 73 percent coverage, including two of the super steep Front Four trails.

You can leave the office in Manhattan at your regular time on Friday and lounge by the fire at your Stowe lodge that night. The Stowe Area Association has some great packages. Vermonters are used to dealing with snow, so our major airport has an outstanding open ratio of over 99:1 in the winter. Burlington International Airport offers plenty of flights nonstop from major cities like Philadelphia, Chicago, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, and Washington. Major carriers at Burlington International Airport include Continental Airlines, The Delta Connection, United Airlines, and US Airways.

From the airport, it's just a 40-minute, mostly Interstate drive to Stowe. Taxi service and car rentals are available at the airport (we offer preferred rates on Thrifty rental cars with ski racks, all-weather tires, and unlimited mileage), and some lodges provide special transportation for groups.
