Overview Skiing the mountain Resort Statistics Lift Statistics Trail Statistics Other Services Contact Info Directions

Smugglers' Notch Resort is located in the picturesque Green Mountains of northern Vermont and is the only resort in North America to Guarantee Family Fun! A renowned family resort... also rated the #1 Family Resort in North America! Smugglers' has over 1,000 acres of all-terrain access including 750+ acres of woods in between trails. The area consists of three interconnected mountains - Morse, Madonna and Sterling - offering terrain from friendly, groomed slopes for learning to expert mogul runs, thrilling glades and even the East’s only triple black diamond, The Black Hole! There are dozens of trails in all including a 3 ½ mile long run on the biggest vertical drop in Northern Vermont at 2,610 feet. Cross-country skiers will enjoy 27 km of scenic woods and fields and 20 km of snowshoeing and backcountry adventures. Smugglers' is a cozy, self-contained slopeside resort village where everything from lodging and child care to dining and entertainment is within an easy stroll from your door.

"Smuggs" is blessed with the second highest snowfall average in Vermont behind Jay Peak. A fleet of old double-chairs accesses the terrain. While these antiquated lifts are slow and low-capacity, they manage to keep the on-hill crowds well regulated on the descent. While Morse Mountain and The Village area are geared toward the family market, the main mountains — Sterling and Madonna — pack a punch. Very steep, rocky terrain and glade skiing prevails on the upper reaches of these mountains, spilling out on to classic New England intermediate cruisers below. Smuggs primary drawback is location for those coming from regions to the south. Thus, only during peak vacation weeks are there any noticeable crowds. With proximity to Burlington, locals enjoy its classic feel, challenging terrain, and good snow coverage — and weekend crowds, though nothing compared to southern VT, can exist to some degree after a big dump.
