Over 5,000 Gather at Ski Utahs Fat Flake Festival
Over 5,000 snow enthusiasts gathered Sat., Nov. 15 at the Gallivan Center in downtown Salt Lake City to welcome winter back to the Wasatch. The free event, hosted by Ski Utah, featured a multitude of family activities including music by “The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash,” “Cavedoll,”and “Junior Giant.” Families enjoyed ice skating under the stars, marshmallow roasting, a photo booth, climbing wall, a kid’s zone, complete with a sledding hill, and more. Utah Winter Games Kicks Off 2008-09 Winter Sport Clinics
The 23rd season of the Utah Winter Games is underway as registration is now open for a variety of winter sport clinics beginning December 6th. Founded by Governor Norman Bangerter in 1986, the Utah Winter Games is the oldest and largest amateur winter sports event of its kind in the country. True to its motto, “All ages - All Abilities - Always Fun,” the Games offer opportunities for all Utah residents to experience winter sports here in their own backyard.

Warren Miller Film Features The Greatest Snow on Earth, "Children of Winter" Premieres in Utah Oct. 22-25
Warren Miller’s “Children of Winter” makes its Utah debut this week. The film features The Greatest Snow on Earth, Utah’s amazing terrain, local athletes and a special tribute to Billy Poole. Utah Ski Resorts 2008 Improvements
Considering the 700 inches of snow which blanketed Utah’s resorts and a fifth consecutive record-breaking year of skier visits, it would appear that Utah’s 2007-08 winter season was unbeatable. Utah Ski and Snowboard Industry Announces Fifth Consecutive Record-Breaking Season
Along with record snow totals, the 2007-08 winter season brought Utah’s ski and snowboard industry its fifth consecutive record-breaking year. The state totaled 4,258,900 skier days during the
2007-08 season. (The National Ski Areas Association defines ‘skier days’ as one person visiting a ski area for all or any part of a day or night for the purpose of skiing).
