Deer Valley is definitely a way beginner resort. There are no steeps or moguls. They groom everything! I also think it is the most complicating mountain ever, the lifts are all screwed up and it is really hard getting from mountain to mountain. When you ski you ski by so many condos, hotels, and homes you don't even feel like you are on a mountain.

Unlike the bare bones of Park City, Deer Valley pampers you. A bit more friendly and a lot more "easy" than Park City, the people who run Deer Valley meticulously manicure their slopes.

Well, I had to try Deer Valley once. After all, it was rated #2 in the nation. People's opinion of this resort is highly dependant on their reasons for and definitions of skiing. Deer Valley provides a very luxurious, 'make-you-feel-good' atmosphere. Your luggage is carried right from your car door, the slopes are immaculately groomed, and everyone wears their most expensive one-pieces. This isn't to put down the resort. The snow and terrain (esp Empire Canyon) are far better than anything you'll find in the East and significantly better than some of the places I've skied in Colorado. But Deer Valley really didn't do anything special for me, not when Alta and Snowbird are right across the mountain. When I ski, I look for lots of dry powder, an excellent variety of terrain, and a reasonable price for it all. Deer Valley did not provide this combination.
