Spring Jam 2008 at SoCals Mountain High Ski Resort

03/21/2008 - Spring Jam, Mountain High’s annual spring break celebration returns this Saturday, March 22nd, with a full line up of contests, activities and live performances. For three straight weekends, fun seekers can participate in events like Pond Skimming, The Frozen T-Shirt Contest, and Get Ready to Rock…Band. Additionally each weekend is host to specialty events like the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Mountain High’s Forum CLAIM Session, and a new team jib event titled The Montage. Students also receive a special $39.00 ticket (regularly $51.00) when they show their Student ID from March 17th to April 13th.

Daily events begin at 11:00am with The Big “O”, a biggest ollie contest where skiers and snowboarders see who can ollie the highest. At 12:00pm noon, contestants must break a t-shirt out of a block of ice and put it on before their competitors do in the Frozen T-Shirt Contest. When the clock strikes 1:00pm, the Dirty Tug-of-war begins. Teams try to overtake their opponents in this battle of epic proportions or risk going down and getting dirty. When 2:00pm rolls around, it’s time to rock. The Get Ready to Rock…Band event puts wanna-be rockers in the limelight as they play the video game Rock Band on the main stage in front of a large projection screen and their adoring fans. To finish the day, guests skim across a 50 foot pond of freezing cold water in the ever-popular Pond Skimming at 3:00pm. All activities are free to anyone with a Mountain High lift ticket and open to skiers and snowboarders, men and women, young and old. Prizes go to the top three finishers in each division and special awards are given to notable performances such as best trick or biggest crash.

In addition to the weekly activities, Mountain High has a few specialty events planned. On March 22nd, members of Mountain High’s online forum (mthigh.com) will session a newly built portion of the park in the annual CLAIM Session. Here riders can back up a season’s worth of online chatter in this laid back competition with music, giveaways, and delicious BBQ.

On March 23rd, bring the kids and the kids at heart to the resort’s annual Easter celebration. There will be two Easter Egg Hunts (one for adults and one for kids) and both have a GOLDEN EGG hidden with a free 2008/09 Season Pass inside. The Adult Easter Egg Hunt begins at 8:00am with eggs located throughout the West resort, and children 12 and under can take part in a second hunt beginning at 10:00am in front of the Children’s Academy.

Finally on April 6th, a unique jib event called “The Montage” will test team’s unity and skill. Groups of 4 compete at jib stations throughout the Faultline Terrain Park where they add points to their overall score. The final station, Pond Skimming, has been redone for this event and features a new rail or box leading into the pond. The team with the most points at the end of the day wins but creative costumes or team uniforms factor into the scoring.
