Terry Peak Ski Area
Overview Resort Statistics Lift Statistics Trail Statistics Other Services Contact Info Directions

Terry Peak is over 7,000 feet in elevation, one of the highest peaks between the Rockies and the Alps, and is located in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota, three miles west of historic Lead/Deadwood. Located in a natural snow belt, Terry Peak receives an average of 150 inches of snow each season. That, along with snowmaking equipment ensures skiers of a great base -- top to bottom. The PSIA-certified ski school has introduced thousands to the sport of skiing. New skiers learn quickly, while experienced skiers often find that lessons help them attain a higher level of skill and skiing enjoyment. Expand your horizons with a specialty lesson, including telemark or snowboarding.

Terry Peak Ski Area began originally with the Bald Mountain Ski Club in 1936, with the installation of a rope tow for club members. Slope grooming in these early days was undertaken by club members hiking up and down the hill with their skis on in order to pack down the snow. Scenic cross-country skiing can be found around the state, from the forests and meadows of the Black Hills to the wooded prairie of the northeast. The Black Hills are beautiful and are a great place for enjoying family recreation. To get to Terry Peak, take I-90 then Highway 85 or 14A, just one hour from Rapid City, S.D.
