Snowbird Extends Ski, Ride Season Through June 15th

06/07/2008 - Utah’s longest ski and snowboard season just got longer at Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort. Resort officials announced today the Utah resort will be open for skiing and riding on weekends through Sunday, June 15, conditions permitting.

“Consistent snowfall throughout the winter provided plenty of deep powder days and has created an impressive late spring snowpack,” said Snowbird President Bob Bonar. “Being able to extend Snowbird’s ski and ride season into June is the icing on the cake.”

Friday, May 30, through Sunday, June 1, Snowbird will offer the Tram, Little Cloud and Mineral Basin Express lifts. June 6-8 the Tram and Little Cloud lifts will be open for skiing and riding and Mineral Basin Express will operate if conditions permit. Father’s Day weekend, June 13-15, the Tram and Little Cloud lifts will be open for skiing and riding. Lifts will operate from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and service advanced and expert terrain only. Additional weekend spring skiing after June 15 will be determined by weather and snow conditions.

The spring lift ticket price is $59 per day and tickets will be sold at the Snowbird Center only, accessed by Snowbird Entry 2. Snowbird is currently offering an Endless Winter Ski & Board Package that includes lodging and a lift ticket beginning at $79 per person, per night. Call (800) 453-3000 for reservations.

Summer Tram operations and summer activities including a new four-station climbing wall, the ZipRider, Alpine Slide, Bungy Trampoline, Mechanical Bull and Kid’s Inflatables, are scheduled to begin Friday, June 13. Hours of operation will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and activities may be limited due to heavy snowpack. Horseback and ATV tours are tentatively scheduled to begin Fourth of July weekend, conditions permitting.

Sunday, June 15, Snowbird’s Father’s Day festivities include brunch at the Atrium in the Cliff Lodge and a barbeque on the Snowbird Center Plaza Deck. The Father’s Day Atrium Brunch runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is $29.95 for adults and $16.95 for children ages 6-12. For reservations, call (801) 933-2181. The Father’s Day Barbeque runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is $18.95 for adults and $10.95 for children. Both the barbeque and the Atrium brunch feature live music and include a free Aerial Tram ride to the top of Hidden Peak.
