03/26/2008 - Belleayre's amazing snowpack will be enjoyed by skiers and riders as spring season skiing ramps up the last week of March. Belleayre Mountain will be hosting a Reggae-fest and Beach Party on Saturday, March 29th where visitors will be enjoying "snow volleyball," live music by the DeadBeats, drink specials, and fair weather on the Overlook Lodge Deck. A Belleayre tradition, this day is always filled with fun activity and end-of-the season celebration.
Saturday the 29th is also the day of another classic event ~ the annual "Dummy Race". This fun contest will start at 1pm from behind the Longhouse Lodge. Contestants create their own funny "dummies" riding on skis or snowboards and shove them down the slopes for a wild ride. Judges will be looking for the most creative dummy, the longest run, and the most spectacular crash. This event always features some unique, humourous results and great photo opportunities.
Saturday’s events continue with the Lobo Amstel Light Ski Race, open to participants 21 years and older. The race is divided into the following categories: Men and Women, 21-40 and 41 & over. Cold Amstel beer will be at the bottom of the race course for each participant. Prizes will be awarded for first, second, and third places; giveaways will also be handed out.
Belleayre Mountain’s final Potter Brother’s Flex Day for the 2008 season will be held on Sunday, March 30th. While supplies last, customers are encouraged to purchase their Lift Tickets at any Potter Brother’s Store locations for only $19.99- a savings of over $28 for adults.
One of Belleayre’s most prestigious events is scheduled for April 5, 2008 at 7pm. The 2nd Annual Hall of Fame Dinner Dance will recognize and honor the efforts of a handful of legendary Belleayre Mountain contributors. The following local heroes will be celebrated: Herbert "Herb" Cytryn, James "Jimmy" McGrath, Robert "Bob" Munro, and posthumously, Phyllis Litoff. Belleayre is currently selling event tickets for $75 per person which includes drinks, dinner, and dancing to live music in Belleayre’s great Overlook Lodge. The event is semi-formal and will be sure to attract all of the Belleayre regulars.
