Haven't been to Whitetail in a few years, and there are reasons for that. First is the limited terrain, and the limited variety within that terrain. There's not much challenge when you can see the lodge from the top of every trail. With the exception of the high-speed quad, most of the lifts take far more time to get you to the top than you will spend skiing to the bottom. Thus, most of the day is spent waiting in lift lines and riding lifts. Second, the prices are rather exorbitant, considering that it's such a small place. Only 17 trails (when they do manage to get them all open), doesn't begin to ease the sting of a $50 lift ticket, combined with another $42 for rentals. For a bit of perspective, you can ski a full day (with rentals) at Vail, CO, the most prestigious ski resort in the country, for $5 less!!! Oh, and Vail has more than 10 times as many trails as Whitetail. Finally, and possibly worst of all, you can't even share a round of beer at the lodge with your ski buddies at the end of the day -- it's a dry county!!! Whitetail needs to realize itself for what it is, and charge people accordingly. It's a nice little place to ski for half a day (any longer than that, and you get tired of riding the same lifts, skiing the same trails over and over again). Whitetail, you're not Vail, and you're not even Seven Springs (which is also less expensive), so quit pretending, and quit killing us at the ticket window!!!
