| Ski Beech is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina.
Beech Mountain proudly ranks as the highest ski area in eastern North America.
At 5,506 feet above sea level, the resort has one of the coldest climates in
the south. While natural snowfall is welcomed, Ski Beech's state of the art
snowmaking capabilities provide 100 percent slope coverage to take full advantage
of its mile-high altitude. Ski Beech offers 15 downhill slopes with more than
830 vertical feet of varied terrain serviced by ten lifts.
The Ski Beech Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) staff
offer lessons at all levels. Choose from group lessons, private lessons,
racing lessons or popular children's programs through the Youth Learning Center.
From ice skating on an outdoor ice rink to dining at the Beech Tree Bar &
Grill, you will find plenty to do at Ski Beech. As far as accommodations, whether
you want to stay in a secluded mountainside location or within walking distance
of the slopes, the rental offices at Beech can accommodate your needs. Choose
from 650 privately-owned chalets and townhomes.
How to Get There. To get to Ski Beech from the north, take
I-81 to Bristol, Tenn. Follow US-19 south to Elizabethton, to Hampton, to Elk
Park and then NC-194 to Banner Elk and Ski Beech. From the east, take I-40 to
Winston-Salem, N.C., then US-421 northwest to Boone, and then take 1105-S to
NC-184 to Banner Elk and on to Ski Beech. From the west, take I-40 to the US-221
exit. Take US-221 north to Linville, N.C., and then take NC 105 northeast to
NC 184 and follow to Ski Beech. From the south, take I-26 to Asheville, N.C.,
and then I-40 to the US-221 exit. Continue on using the directions from the
west. |
