| Appalachian Ski Mountain is nestled in the northwestern corner of
North Carolina. Appalachian Ski Mountain opened in 1962 and has since
developed a reputation as one of the best ski areas in the southeastern United
States to learn to ski. The French-Swiss Ski College operates the Ski School
for all ages and ability levels at Appalachian Ski Mountain. Skiers may choose
between a group lesson or private instruction. They also offer a program specially
designed to instruct children ages 4 to 12. There are a wide variety of lodging
facilities in both Boone and Blowing Rock. You can choose from hotels, motels,
some franchised and some privately owned. There are also several bed & breakfast
facilities in the area.
Since the ski area is only three miles from Blowing Rock and just six
miles from Boone, no matter where you stay you are a short distance
to the slopes. Despite being a small area that is geographically isolated by
the mountains, there is a delightfully wide array of restaurants to choose from.
The area offers many privately owned and operated fine restaurants, including
Chinese, Mexican/Southwestern, BBQ, steaks, seafood, etc. There is also a wide
selection of fast food and franchised restaurants. The ski area is located just
two miles off of four-lane Highway 321 between Boone and Blowing Rock. |
