| The Great Divide Snowsports Area is located in Marysville, between
Montana's Capital City of Helena and Great Falls. Over the past few
years, Great Divide has grown from a local favorite to one of the largest and
most diverse areas in the region. Great Divide has added 68 trails and glades
of backcountry type terrain to its array of classic ski slopes and remote cornices,
cliffs, chutes, and glades. Skiers and riders will find 137 named trails and
five open areas with 1600 acres of "go anywhere" type terrain severed
by 5 double chairlifts and one beginner tow. There are numerous glades and open
parks available, and there's night skiing Friday nights.
Friendly instructors will teach kids (3 and older) and adults alike.
Free lessons for first-time riders age six and older are offered daily at 10
a.m. and 1 p.m. by signing up at the Ski School desk or calling ahead. A pro
shop carrying a complete line of "I forgot it" supplies is on the
premises, and lunches and snacks can be had on the mountain. A large rental
operation offers shaped ski sets, snowboard sets, and skiboards to fill all
your equipment needs. A number of motels and bed and breakfasts to suit any
price range can be found nearby. To get to Great Divide, take I-15 to Exit 200
between Helena and Great Falls, then west on Montana Highway 279 for 9 miles
to Marysville Road, then 7 miles. Great Divide is 22 miles from Helena and 95
miles from Great Falls. |
