If you're in the Twin cities, Afton is the biggest place around. You have to drive 2.5hours to spirit mtn. to find better. Several terrain parks, and lots of runs makes this the best place for a quick day trips.

Afton Alps is not one of the best places I’ve skied. The layout of the hill isn’t great, there are so many merging trails that you cannot even ski without having to look around constantly. It’s usually pretty icy and the trails aren’t groomed very well. It’s pretty packed with unsupervised kids so I wouldn’t suggest this resort for a carefree relaxing ski trip.
