Maine Longest Vertical Drop in the East Sugarloaf USA is Maine's biggest ski mountain, featuring the only timberline lift service skiing in the East. With a continuous, one-mountain vertical drop of 2,820 feet, the longest in the East, and a summit elevation of 4,237 feet, Sugarloaf USA boasts of more than 45 miles of trails ranging from novice to expert-only. One hundred twenty-eight trails traverse Sugarloaf USA's 1,400 skiable acres, including three trails more than three miles long, three terrain parks and a half-pipe. Sugarloaf USA's 4,237-foot summit is served by a high-speed quad, and the rest of the mountain is well-serviced by a high-speed super-quad and two high-capacity quad chairs, a triple and eight double chairs, and one surface lift. Snowmaking covers trails in all 15 lift areas. Grooming is performed nightly by 12 Bombardier machines, which cover a distance equivalent to the distance between Portland, Maine, and Chicago on a given night.

Sugarloaf/USA Perfect Turn Ski and Snowboard School is consistently ranked as the best eastern school and offers more than 50 full-time and 100 part-time PSIA-certified instructors and a variety of unique programs all consistent with the American teaching method. Special workshops on technique improvement, powder and bump skiing, telemarking and snowboarding are routinely held. The Sugarloaf Outdoor Center is the largest in Maine, offering 105 kilometers of groomed, tracked trails and a 6,000 square foot solar-heated lodge. Sugarloaf USA's western-style atmosphere comes from its village area, consisting of 10 alpine shops and 18 on-mountain eateries. How to Get There Sugarloaf USA is located 36 miles north of Farmington on Route 27 in the western mountains of Maine. Driving time from the Greater Boston area is about three and a half to four hours. It is a little more than two hours from Portland, Bangor, Augusta or Waterville, Maine, and Montreal.

From the South (MA/NH)
Take I-95 North to Augusta, Exit 112B (formerly 31B) - Follow Route 27 North through Farmington and Kingfield, straight to Sugarloaf.

or

Take the Maine Turnpike (I-95) to Auburn, Exit 75 (formerly 12) - Follow Route 4 North through Farmington - Get on Route 27 North through Kingfield, straight to Sugarloaf.

From the West-Montreal
Head east to Sherbrooke to the end of Route 10. Take 112 east to Route 253 south to Cookshire. Take a left onto Route 108 to Route 212 east through La Patrie to Woburn. Take Route 161 south to the U.S. border. Sugarloaf is approximately 58 kilometers south on Route 27.

Vermont/Western Massachusetts
Head north on I-91. Take Route U.S. 302 east to I-93 south (for four miles) to Route U.S. 302 east again. Turn north onto Route U.S. 3. At Route 115 junction head east to Route U.S. 2 east. At Route 4 head north to Route 27. Continue north on Route 27 to Sugarloaf.

From the East-Calais and Maritimes, Bangor
From Calais take Route 9 west to I-395 west to Bangor, to exit 1A onto I-95 south to Exit 157 (formerly 39) at Newport, then Route 2 west to Skowhegan. Get on Route 201 north to Route 148 west through Madison, turn right just after bridge and take Route 201A north to Anson. Then North to North Anson. Take a left onto Route 16 west to North New Portland then take a left continuing onto Route 16 west to Kingfield, then cross the bridge and turn right onto Route 27 north to Sugarloaf.
