Shawnee Peak has a bad reputation when it is compared to Maine giants like Sugarloaf and Sunday River. When, however, it is compared to other small, family oriented mountains it comes out on top. Shawnee Peak has excellent terrain, mostly cruisers but some great steep pitches as well. The ski school programs and the terrain park make it a definite attraction for people of all ages; and families. The top of this small mountain offers some beautiful views overlooking a large lake. Perhaps the best part about Shawnee however is it s day trip convience. With its small crowds, nice lodge, night skiing and proximity to Portland, Shawnee Peak offers convience larger mountains can not. You can easily fit some night skiing in after school or after work. Some even on their lunch breaks. Shawnee Peak offers a great beginners mountain. A great place to bring the family and a great place to get some turns in after work.
