PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

K2 got together with AMGA guide Martin Volken to design a randonnee ski that tours effortlessly, but isn't afraid of steep, technical descents—the Shuksan Alpine Touring Ski. This K2 ski isn't one of those only-for-the-fluff planks. Two sheets of Titanal bolster its firm-flexing core, providing the response and edge control you need to pull off turns in everything from spring corn to crust and hardpack. Plus, at only 1600g, the Shuksan Alpine Touring Ski is light enough to take on long backcountry tours and ski mountaineering trips. *Available for US shipment only.

Bottom line

The Shuksan remains confident in the most harrying backcountry conditions.

Product Reviews

A solid ski for hard pack
These are my ski of choice for ski mountaineering. They hold an edge with the best of them for those steep hairy, icy descents. Pretty lightweight and great response to my movements. Very snappy and lively and can make very tight turns when you need them. Overall very reliable and proven ski.
One World - One ski
If you are looking for a ski Quiver of One, the Shuksan is an excellent choice. It works on steep, icy couloirs, powder, groomers, bumps, backcountry... whatever. Not only that, but it is incredibly durable and will last for years. There are lots of backcountry skis available nowadays, but few of them have reached the "Classic" status of the Shuksan due to its all around perfect geometry and blend of performance.
K2 Shuksan
Towards the end of last ski season, I found myself grabbing my Shuksans instead of my downhill skis even when going to the resorts. For a lightweight ski, they turn effortlessly - albeit on really hard stuff, you will get bounced around a bit. Their lightness made them wonderful on approaches or strapping onto my pack when booting up steep couloirs. And when it was time to come down backcountry lines or slopes, it was my mettle I was questioning, never if the Shuksans could handle it.
