Crested Butte Mountain Resort breaks all-time snowfall record

04/12/2008 - The past week's snowstorms brought Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) more than 31 inches, with 17 inches of accumulation in the past 48 hours. The latest storm has brought the total snowfall to 418 inches for the 2007-2008 season, catapulting the resort past the previous record of 415 inches set in the winter of 1979-1980.

Crested Butte has also reached that magic base depth of 100 inches and the skiing/riding continues to be outrageous!

Since early December, snow has fallen at Crested Butte more than 50 percent of the days this winter, with record snowfall in December, January and February. With storm totals accumulating anywhere from eight to 32 inches, it has been "Powderlicious" this winter in Crested Butte.

"I have had so many guests and locals say that they have had their 'best day ever' this winter, and it is going to continue right up until the final day," said Ken Stone, VP and Chief Marketing Officer. "With more snow in the forecast, this it is shaping up to be another powder weekend."

The weather forecast is calling for another storm this Wednesday and Thursday, bringing an additional one to two feet.

This weekend is your final chance to experience this record breaking season. CBMR is inviting all season pass holders, from any other ski area to join in the celebration of this record breaking year with half price lift tickets. Closing day is April 13, 2008.

In addition to great savings on ticket prices, season pass holders from other resorts will be able to use their passes to receive from 10 to 15 percent off Crested Butte Vacations (CBV) lodging packages. For more information call CBV at 1-800-544-8448. (Photo by Tom Stillo)
