Hands down the best terrain in Connecticut with trails, Gunbarrel and Stinger, providing consistent, fall-line pitch for most of the length of the mountain. The other areas around the state have a more mellow steepness to them. Any steeps you will find, won't last more than a second or two. Not that the runs at Sundown are long in comparison with the larger areas in New England, but for Connecticut Gunbarrel will give your legs a good workout when it has bumps on it. The only drawbacks to Sundown is its location, there aren’t any easy ways to get there, and there isn’t a good area for absolute never-ever skiers. The area that is used is small and tends to crowd up quickly. The surface lift is also set on a hill that is much to steep for a beginner.
