Keystone has great skiing. But--Why go there? Here's what a typical weekend day consists of. Drive real slow through town, (because you didn't come over Loveland pass. Where you would have passed by Arapahoe Basin and should have stopped and skied in the first place.)park your car in one of the three or four dozen lots strategically placed as far away from the lift area as humanly possible, change clothes in your car because it's 4 bucks to rent a locker the size of a man purse, walk from lot ZZ to lot A in your ski boots. Or wait half an hour for a bus that's always late and overcrowded with nauseating color coordinated skiers that makes you feel like puking. By the time you get there your so f*****g tired and angry at yourself for deciding that this would be a good place to go. After all, I've heard from so many skiers when I was at a Starbucks getting my 3$ cup of mud that this is "truely where the skiers ski", not Copper Mountain (that area's another story friends) You'll find that your boots have been worn down on the toes and heels so much that your bindings won't set anymore. And guess what? You get to walk up hill to the ticket office to purchase your 80$ ticket! Don't forget to bring your credit card. Because you can't stuff that much money you'll need into your wallet for the day of joyous activities that lie ahead for you and your loved ones who will surely remember you for this come next Christmas. Maybe you've read some of my other reviews about other Colorado ski areas. I'm not a bitch. But this place was without a doubt, the worst ski area besides Chuchura Valley,Howelson Hill and Hogodon Mountain I've ever skied. If you have any enemies you'd really like to stick it to, tell them to go to Keystone "You'll really like it. It's a way of life) FZ

Keystone is the place I really learned to ski, 25 years ago. It's a great family place, and a great place for low-time skiers as well as beginners. There are some great intermediate runs, too. If you're into the double black runs, A-Basin right up the road will give you all you can handle. Weekday lift lines are short to non-existant.

After reading Frosty's review I just had to comment! I just came back from Whistler/Blackcomb, BC last Sunday 1/6/02. That area is one big,BIG area and it was crowded like crazy. The blue runs should really be listed as black(some any way) because of the pitch. These runs you really want to be able to concentrate and dig into your skis and see what they can do- but not at Whistler-I shared the mountain with three people to my left 5 to right and a whole slew of beginners on a slope that they should have never attempted. I kept trying to dodge and shake the crowds but I made up my mind that everyone in Canada must ski. The point is, all ski resorts have these days. I've had them at Vail-Copper-Beaver Creek and Utah. Don't let that keep you away from one of the best all round ski experiences around. Recommendations: Alpen Glow-Snake River Tavern-Night Skiing-Ice Skating Rink-Tubing Hill-Catching the old man telling stories in River Run around the fire pit. The super terrific sleigh ride out back behind the golf course out to the old shack for dinner. Snowmobile trips on the Continental Divide (Xmas picture potential)-All the Gondola Rides-Every single restaurant there. The Ski school is super. They actually take your kids out and ski them. Our kids went down black diamonds and mougel runs and they had a blast. Beaver Creek is nothing more than a nursery school. Another plus storing your skis at the base of the gondola. That's so great. Skiing; Forget about the Gondola take it up once then go down Mozart and ski everything skiable-head to the outback and the other peak & take the chairs all day and have fun! Take the Gondola home from the tubing hill only. Hit everything groommed with Atomic Beta Races and you'll hit Mach 1.. Actually, I two favorite resorts now!! Blackcomb where Seventh Heaven is Heaven and Keystone. Blackcomb and Keystone Rule!!
