Located just outside of Steamboat Springs, Howelsen Ski Area is the smack in the middle of the Williams Fork mountains. This great location makes Howelsen the recipient of huge amounts of the snow making for some great conditions for riding or training. Howelsen Ski Area holds a unique place in the history of skiing: It has sent more skiers to international competitions than any other area in North America. Howelsen boasts a remarkable heritage. It is the oldest ski area in continuous use in Colorado, and has the largest and most complete natural ski jumping complex in North America. Howelsen has been the training grounds for 22 Olympians, 23 FIS competitors, four members of the World Pro Circuit, 14 members of the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame and six members of the National Ski Hall of Fame.

Howelson ski area is located in downtown Steamboat Springs on Lincoln Avenue. The ski area is 160 miles from Denver via I-70 west to Dillon, then CO 9 north to Kremmling and US 40 west to Steamboat Springs.
