Great terrain when the North Face and High Lift are in operation. Paradise express is a good improvement. I stayed in Gunnison and found a good deal on lodging and lift ticket cominations for Crested Butte and Monarch.

Looking for a great ski vacation but don't have a lot of money to spend? Crested Butte is a great place to spend spring break. It has the terrain to fit every skill level, but what most impressed me was how many expert trails there were. We skied every day over the entire break, and were never bored. There was always one more trail or a new challenge that we hadn't explored. The snow conditions last year over spring break weren't ideal, but let's face it, it was great skiing none the less. Not only was the skiing incredible and the scenery breathtaking, but the accommodations were pleasant as well. We traveled on a budget of under $500 per person (including ski rental and lift tickets) for the entire week, yet we were still able to afford a hotel right at the base of the mountain so we could walk to the ski lift every morning. There was also a free bus system that would run from the condos and hotels to various places in town and back again, so we never even had to drive anywhere while we were there. It was an extremely exciting trip, and it was very relaxing at the same time because there was nothing to worry about. The town of Crested Butte takes very good care of their tourists.
