This place is great if you can ski the place enough to find it's secrets. There are certain places that can hold powder even when it doesn't snow. You also have to find lifts that aren't crowded during the weekends. (I'm not telling you where) The terrain in incredible if you are an advanced skier.

If you're a beginner/intermediate planning a ski trip, Breck is tough to beat. It has everything you'd want in a destination resort. The ski area rises above town on the west side. There is a lot of terrain spread over three mountains - Peaks 8, 9, and 10. There are base areas at Peaks 8 and 9, with Peak 10 off to the south side of Peak 9. The runs are mostly greens and blues, although there are quite a few black mogul runs scattered about. The steepest runs are on Peak 10, and there is an open bowl at the top of peak 8 for the experts. If you like groomed cruisers, this is the place. If you're looking for a more extreme experience, you won't find it at Breck. Breck is a very popular destination, so it does tend to get crowded, especially on the weekends. The crowds are not bad at all during weekdays, though, even in the peak season. They added a new 6-person high-speed lift at the base of Peak 9 to go along with the Beaver Run Superchair, so that should help ease the lines as well. The resort is owned by Vail resorts, which also owns Vail, Beaver Creek, and Keystone, and it is priced accordingly. The lift tickets are not cheap, although you can get multi-day passes that will save money. And the restaurants are very expensive - definitely pack your lunch. The reason that Breck is such a great destination is the town. There are plenty of things to do if you want to take a day off from skiing, and there is a lot of nightlife. The restaurants in town are priced pretty reasonably for a resort town, and there is a ton of shopping. There is an excellent shuttle system through the town, so if you don't stay at the resort itself (which will save you a lot of money) you can get to the slopes easily. Going to Breck for a day trip isn't the greatest experience. You have to park in town and take the shuttle to slopes (or pay for the close in parking), and they don't have enough lockers. If you ski right up until close, waiting for the shuttle can take a while. If I could rate it separately, I'd give Break 4 stars as a destination resort and 2 for day trips, so I'm giving it three overall.
