Breckenridge Ski Resort opens with over 3000 Pancakes

11/12/2009 - Breckenridge Ski Resort kicked off the 2009-2010 season at 9 a.m. this morning, after serving over 3000 FREE pancakes and waffles to hungry skiers and riders from the base of Peak 8. Cheers from folks at the Colorado SuperChair were greeted with sunshine and 108 acres of open terrain to feast on as well.  With snow in the forecast for Summit County tonight through Sunday, more open terrain could be in the forecast at Breckenridge Ski Resort this weekend.  With a triple jump line already open in upper Park Lane Terrain Park, this is a great start to the season.

Visit www.breckenridge.com for terrain updates, snow reports, lodging deal, event details and more or call 970-453-5000.Peak 8 skier services include ticket sales, rental operations and food service, as well as ticket sales at the BreckConnect Gondola. Lifts will open at 9:00 a.m. for the duration of the early season. Breckenridge Ski Resort asks that skiers and riders observe all posted signs and warnings, especially during the early season. Closed trails may contain hazards due to early snow coverage. Please keep off closed trails and out of closed areas for safety reasons.

What’s New at Breckenridge
Already home to four huge peaks and 2,350 acres, the resort has debuted the new Peak 7 base area last season and reconstruction of the Peak 8 base area is on track with its first new building on Peak 8, Rock Resort’s One Ski Hill Place, opening in late spring 2010. Also, 2009 marks 25 years of snowboarding at Breckenridge Ski Resort, one of the first to embrace snowboarding and to host one of the initial major snowboard competitions in the industry, The World Snowboarding Championships, or “The World’s,” in 1986.  Breckenridge continues its support of the snowboarding community and industry by hosting major events such as the Winter Dew Tour, December 18-20, 2009 and fostering the careers of up-and-comers through the Breckenridge FreeRide Team. With four terrain parks and three pipes, including the top-ranked Freeway Terrain Park/Pipe, a park progression system for beginners and intermediates, Breckenridge remains on the forefront of the industry in both facilities and talent. In fact, three Breckenridge Team Riders have enough points to compete for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team this year. Steve Fisher, JJ Thomas and Zack Black are all eligible to compete for a spot to Vancouver.
