My family and I stayed at the Aleyeska Resort for a week while on our Alaska vacation. The hotel is in a central location and the drive is easy to any destination. Our room was great, we booked a junior suite and the views were outstanding. The bed is comfortable, but with all the activitiy involved on the vacation a solid plank of wood would have done the job...lol. I consider myself a bit of a hotel snob and this hotel was awesome! The restaurants were very good, but I thought the seven glaciers was overrated, considering you can get the same food for less at the cafe. Although the tram ride is a must. My only complaint was on the last night, a large group of kids arrived and caused a significant amount of noise, but the hotel had security go to the room and all was quiet . I really loved this hotel and am glad I did not stay in Anchorage. This allows for a true Alaska experience with all of the comforts of home.

Five winters ago I booked a week at the Alyeska Westin Hotel (now Prince) ... and brought my family (three of us) to Anchorage from New York. People thought we were nuts to go to Alaska in the Winter ... but, the Alyeska resort looked "alluring". We went dog-sledding, visited the zoo (!), visited the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward, and did a lot of skiing. The snow was fantastic (and deep) and the view from the top is phenomenal. I've been skiing for many years and I've visited many ski areas. Alyeska is unique. The hotel is very nice, the food is first rate, the tram is very convenient, the people are friendly and the terrain is absolutely breathtaking! Where in North America can you stand at the top of a lift and peer at the most challenging slopes imaginable with the ocean in front of your eyes? Sorry ... no other ski area offers this incredible experience. I read some of the other accompanying reviews and I agree with most of the comments. Alyeska is modern ... yet retains much of what was good about skiing many years ago. There are no huge crowds, the snow is amazing, the terrain is wildly varied and the experience is superb. My 13 year old daughter (a black diamond skier) learned to ski parallel at Alyeska. She had taken dozens of lessons at "lower 48" ski areas and was stuck in the wedge. It took just one afternoon lesson at Alyeska to transform her from being a "wedger" to skiing like an expert. PHENOMENAL! The quality of instruction at this place is vastly better than what we've found at other places. My daughter really likes this place ... we're returning for our 4th visit this week. I am 51 years old and have skied for 46 years. I've skied the East and West ... and I really enjoy Alyeska. I won't review all of the slopes, trails and lifts. Everything is good. It's an unusually thrilling place to ski. My wife, who dislikes skiing and ski areas, actually likes going to the Alyeska Prince Hotel. She meets for lunch at the restaurant at the top of the tram (actually very good food for a ski area). She reads, uses the health club, pool and spa ... enjoys the food, etc. She doesn't enjoy visiting most ski areas ... but, she's willingly returning to Alyeska. Believe me ... that says a LOT about this place. Enjoying the experience is what it's all about. Alyeska can deliver ... I wouldn't return all the way from New York if I didn't love it. By the way, you'll find very few people from the "lower 48" at this place. Alyeska is truly undiscovered by the masses.
